So, yesterday I told you that the kind of love my parents shared was Mania love. They were not alone.
Barry White knew all about it. He wrote song after song about this kind of love. You don’t even need to hear all of the lyrics. You can practically hear him begging in the titles alone! “Can’t Get Enough of Your Love, Baby”,“You’re the First, the Last, My Everything”, “Never, Never Gonna Give You Up”. 😍
At first, one might think “Oh, that’s so sweet! I want that kind of love!” 🥰 But then you realize this kind of love is startin’ to take a turn when you listen to “Don’t Make Me Wait Too Long”. In it,
he tells his woman, “Girl, if you only knew what I go through without you.” His possessive side really comes out when he bellows “No friends (to pack), no phone calls. You got what I want girl; I want it all”! 😳Huh?
Mania love is an obsessive love. It leads to unwanted jealousy or possessiveness. This kind of love usually stems from the insecurities of one (or both) of the partners.
So, how do you avoid Mania?
Recognize obsessive or possessive behavior before you get too deep in a relationship.
Focus more on yourself-more “me time”!
Trust your instincts!
If you’re already involved in a Mania love affair, there’s still time to get out!
In the words of Nina Simone,
“ It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life for me… I’m feeling good!”❤️
